Dimerization of human growth hormone by zinc - PubMed
Abstract Size-exclusion chromatography and sedimentation equilbrium studies demonstrated that zinc ion (Zn2+) induced the dimerization of human growth hormone (hGH). Scatchard analysis of 65Zn2+ binding to hGH showed that two Zn2+ ions associate per dimer of hGH in a cooperative fashion. that zinc ion (Zn2+) induced the dimerization of human growth hormone (hGH). shown previously that the initial C-H bond-cleav- age reaction is rate limiting in alkane activation (9, 10, 17). 23. If curved Arrhenius constructions are observed, then the raw data may be used directly to extract Er, and Er2 via Eq. 4. 24.

Size-exclusion chromatography and sedimentation equilbrium studies demonstrated that zinc ion (Zn2+) induced the dimerization of human growth hormone (hGH). Scatchard analysis of 65Zn2+ binding to hGH showed that two Zn2+ ions associate per dimer of hGH in a cooperative fashion. Zn 2+ and Co 2+ ions are known to promote human growth hormone reversible dimerization. In these studies, dimerization was also shown to be initiated by nine other metal ions: Cd 2+, Hg 2+, Cu 2+, Ag+, Au 3+, Au+, Pd 2+, Ni 2+, and Pt 4+. In some cases (Hg 2+, Ag +, Au 3+, and Ni 2+) formation of higher oligomers also took place.

Human growth hormone (hGH) binds and activates lactogenic receptors by a sequential receptor dimerization mechanism. The affinity for the first lactogenic receptor is increased due to one zinc molecule linking hGH residues H18 and E174, located in helices 1 and 4, respectively, with two adjacent res …

A homozygous mutation in growth hormone 1 (GH1) was recently identified in an individual with growth failure. This mutation, c.705G>C, causes replacement of cysteine at position 53 of the 191-amino-acid sequence of 22 kDa human GH (hGH) with serine (p.C53S). This hGH molecule (hereafter referred to as GH-C53S) lacks the disulfide bond between p.Cys-53 and p.Cys-165, which is highly conserved ...
