Travelers arriving at United Airlines London Luton Airport need to plan well since United only flies from Heathrow. Most travelers take low-cost carriers into Luton and then hop over to Heathrow to take their United flight. Luton is a smaller, less busy airport with good services and straightforward access, making it excellent for arriving travelers. The critical hurdle is transfer from Luton to Heathrow, and I was able to find that workable, though in need of a firm buffer of time—about two hours by train or shuttle. Services by United Airlines at Heathrow are outstanding, with polite service personnel, effective boarding, and terrific lounges. For those of us who budget and don't mind taking on the transfer, United Airlines connections represent a reasonable way to have affordable European flights together with decent United long-haul service.
